In 1977 after several years working abroad in the hotel industry, Ilvano Prostrati took over one of the oldest delicatessen in the Modena Apennines with the intention of maintaining the genuineness of typical local products.
At the suggestion of a dear friend, Ilvano began the production of tigelle according to the classic mountain tradition. This decision proved so successful that Ilvano has received much recognition for his tigelle Il Montanaro: handmade in the traditional way. He has been cited in the principal cooking magazines and Italian food guides such as Il Golosario, Cucina Italiana, Touring Club and Le Vie del Gusto, as well as abroad in the German magazine Der Feinschmecker. He has appeared on the Italian TV show La Prova del Cuoco which is the most popular cooking show in Italy. The popularity of the tigelle Il Montanaro has crossed international borders being well known and appreciated abroad. Ilvano Prostrati was invited to Japan to present his excellent tigelle at the "Italian Fair" held in Tokyo from October 3 to 10, 2010. This prestigious event is organized by ISETAN, the Orient's most important chain of 18 luxury stores where you can find the world's finest products.
Il Montanaro is a small family business whose continuous passion and commitment has set a big goal in preserving the culinary traditions past down from generation to generation.
